The award-winning Rainforest Hideaway Restaurant in Marigot Bay has been running popular, live Dinner Jazz since opening 12 years ago and is now a recognised “jazz venue” – hosting fringe events for the annual St Lucia Jazz Week.
Rainforest runs Dinner Jazz on four night each week – Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday – with some of the best musicians in St Lucia.
Rainforest Jazz provides a soft musical background to dinner – with variations from Emerson Nurse on keyboards backing the soulful voice of Empress Ila to the unique Caribbean sound of steel pan-led jazz with Allison Marquis accompanied by Clarence Joseph. On Mondays, Zack Popo plays a brilliant jazz guitar and backs Christa Bailey, a jazz singer with an extraordinary vocal range. On Thursdays, Jab Duplessis’s saxophone will get feet tapping and often diners (and waitresses) dancing to some local folk tunes – whilst Ambrose Adolph sings some jazz favourites – reminding us of Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole.
Rainforest recently added LIVE JAZZ ON FRIDAY NIGHTS – with the RUPERT LAY TRIO of guitar, drums and upright bass. Rupert Lay is opening the main concert of the St Lucia Jazz Festival on May 14th 2017 at the Pigeon Island National Park.
