…a magical dining experience in Marigot Bay!
“The Most Beautiful Bay In The Caribbean” – James Michener
Dining on the dock in Marigot Bay by a lagoon full of performing fish – Rainforest Hideaway has been described as
“The Most Romantic Restaurant In The Caribbean”.
“I found Heaven.” – “The setting is dreamy.”
“The food, service and atmosphere are incredible.”
TripAdvisor
Rainforest Hideaway, established in 2004, is a family owned restaurant which has been listed by TripAdvisor as the number one restaurant in Marigot Bay since its opening. Just a short ferry ride across the calm waters of Marigot‘s inner bay, the restaurant is actually built out over the water –- providing a romantic setting for enjoying our European/Caribbean fusion menu – or a glass of champagne in the bar watching the fish dance with the underwater lights in the lagoon.
It’s All About Teamwork
Rainforest has been managed from the beginning by Jean Rene Du Boulay, a charismatic St Lucian who loves the Rainforest – in fact he even helped build it together with several members of the current team – and extend it a few years ago when the dock was added around the lagoon. Trained in the US, Jean Rene has worked with some of St Lucia’s top chefs and enjoys the challenge of creating a fine dining experience in such a naturally stunning waterfront setting.
Chef Åsa
Executive Chef Åsa, originally from Sweden, has worked in some of the best restaurants in St Lucia over the past ten years, learning to love the subtleties of spicy creole cooking and combining it with her own modern European style. The result is an exciting fusion that is sophisticated yet distinctively Caribbean. Also in the kitchen are Chef Michael and Chef Myron who has been with Rainforest from the very first day it opened.
A Warm Welcome
When you step off the cute little ferry that brings you across the bay, Stephen Donnelly and his front of house team will be waiting to greet you. Like Manager Jean Rene and Chef Myron, Stephen has been with Rainforest for a long time – and so has Tessie, the barman who makes the magic cocktails behind the bar.
A Favourite Hideaway
Rainforest Hideaway is more than a lovely restaurant with great food, it’s a special experience created by a dedicated team who welcome new friends as well as the visitors who return year after year and, of course, the many St Lucians who drop in for romantic dinners and special celebrations.
There’s no road to Rainforest and the two minute boat trip is a lovely way to begin your evening escape – it feels like leaving the real world behind! The ferry is free to diners but, if you have your own boat, there’s plenty of dinghy parking space in the inner lagoon. If you’re arriving in a larger boat, please let us know and we’ll keep a space for you to unload passengers on the outer dock.
The combination of fine dining and live Jazz in an exotic tropical garden on the edge of a lagoon teeming with fish, have made Rainforest a favourite hideaway for St. Lucians and a popular haunt for visiting celebrities.
